‘Don’t touch the loot’

Max (Jean Gabin) is ageing gangster who has just pulled off the heist of his life, stealing eight golden bars which he expects to be his nest egg. However when his right hand man Riton (Rene Dary) reveals the heist to his girlfriend Josy (Jeanne Moreau) in an attempt to impress her, she tells her new admirer, rival gangster Angelo (Lino Ventura) who sets about getting his hands on the gold. He eventually kidnaps Riton, demanding the gold as a ransom. Max’s loyalty to his old friend prevents him from walking away but he is determined not to give up the gold without a fight.

Top 10 most memorable gangster movie quotes

 While the plot is usually the most important part of a script, strong dialogue contributes a huge amount and quotes can often be one of the most memorable parts of a movie. But there is more to a quote than merely the words; you also have to take into account their delivery and their impact.
